iStorya 2023: How Varacco Inc. Inspires Youth to Take Action on Climate Change Through Coffee
Varacco Inc. had the honor of being part of a meaningful event on November 25, 2023. The event was iStorya: Kapehan para sa Kalikasan 2023, a celebration of the National Climate Change Conscious Week (NCCW) held at Gabriela Silang Eco Park, Quezon City.
The event was organized by Positive Youth Development Network (PYDN) and UNICEF Philippines, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), Quezon City Government, and Quezon City Climate Change and
Environmental Sustainability Department. The initiative aimed to foster social community discussions and networking opportunities centered around stories of climate action and disaster resilience.
To enhance the event’s appeal, PYDN collaborated with local food and beverage businesses to serve the attendees with free snacks and drinks. One of them was Varacco, who set-up a coffee corner under the vibrant canopy of trees. They delighted the young and enthusiastic crowd of participants and guests, who were exchanging ideas about climate change, with their freshly brewed coffee.
In a span of just two and a half hours, the Varacco team served 150 cups of iced and hot coffee, all without a single plastic container. Attendees, eco-conscious and coffee lovers alike, brought their own tumblers, aligning with the event's commitment to sustainable practices.
Beyond the coffee experience, Varacco also took the opportunity to share their strategy to address climate change through their innovative and integrated coffee farming. This approach delivers high-quality coffee beans and preserves water and energy, indicating their
commitment to environmental stewardship. They also shared their vision of making a positive social impact by supporting local farmers and communities with fair trade and ethical practices.
